Gillespie County Fair Futurity Trials Set for Saturday

FREDERICKSBURG, TX–AUGUST11, 2022–Blood N Pepper, a Grade 2-placed son of Apollitical Blood campaigned by Almada Racing, is one of 71 2-year-olds entered in Saturday's 350-yard Gillespie County Fair Futurity trials.
Blood N Pepper has earned $44,445 from three races,, and his record includes a second-place finish, 1 1/4 lengths behind winner Bye Corona Bye, in the 300-yard, $217,000 West Texas Futurity (G2) at Sunland Park on April 3. The gelding was purchased for $26,500 at last year's TQHA Yearling Sale.
Blood N Pepper drew the rail post and will be ridden by Victor Urieta Jr. for trainer Juan Diaz Jr. in the sixth of eight trials.
Spumante is coming off of a second-place finish, a nose behind winner RC Lady Eagle, in the July 17, $111,000 GCFA Firecracker Futurity. A $15,000 buy at last year's Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, the gelded son of champion FDD Dynasty is owned and trained by Jose R. Espinosa.
Spumante drew post 3 and will be ridden by Nestor Duran in the sixth heat.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 28, $25,000-added Gillespie County Fair Futurity final.
