SUNLAND PARK, NM—FEBRUARY 11, 2020—Sixty 3-year-olds, topped by Hotsempting and One Flying Dynasty, are entered in Friday’s 400-yard West Texas Derby (G3) trials at Sunland Park.

A bay daughter of champion Tempting Dash trained by Ramon Mendoza for owners Miguel Y. and Mauricio Gallegos, Hotsempting is coming off of a 2-year-old campaign during which she earned $232,390 from five races and ran second, 1 1/4 lengths behind Uncle D, in the 400-yard, $1-million Rainbow Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs. The filly drew post 4 and will be ridden by Esgar Ramirez in the third of six trials.

One Flying Dynasty is a stakes-winning son of champion Fdd Dynasty owned by Joe D. Yates, Richard Young, and Michael S. Bennett. The gelding has won two of five starts, including last year’s 400-yard, $245,946 La Fiesta Futurity at Albuquerque Downs, and he has earned $131,063. One Flying Dynasty drew post 9 and will be ridden by Raul Ramirez Jr. for trainer Mike Joiner in the first heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the March 7, 65,000-added West Texas Derby final.
