Texas Classic Futurity Trials Draw 124 Juveniles

Texas Classic Futurity Trials Draw 124 Juveniles

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—OCTOBER 16, 2019—Chilitos, a graded stakes winning son of world champion Apollitical Jess owned by Omar and Anna Paredes, is one of 124 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 400-yard Texas Classic Futurity (G1) trials at Lone Star Park.

The Texas Classic Futurity is Texas’ richest horse race for any breed. The 10 fastest qualifiers from Saturday’s trials will meet in the $1 million-est. final on November 9.

Chilitos is coming off of a neck victory in the 400-yard, $344,050 Dash For Cash Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park on October 5. Trained by Adrian Huitron, the homebred colt has earned $194,210 from six outs in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

Chilitos drew post 4 and will be ridden by Nestor Duran in the fifth of 13 trials.

Other prominent juveniles entered in Saturday’s heats include Trump My Record and DF Mischievious Jess. Trained by Jose Luis Sanchez III for owner Cruz E. Nava, Trump My Record has banked $385,291 from eight outs, and his six wins include the March 20, $254,070 Harrah’s Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs, and the May 3, $459,700 Sam Houston Futurity (G2) at Sam Houston Race Park.

Trump My Record is coming off of a second-place finish to Chilitos in the Dash For Cash Futurity. The Apollitical Blood colt drew post 3 and will be ridden by Eddie Sanchez in the first trial.

DF Mischievious Jess will be making his local debut off of a Ruidoso Downs summer campaign during which the Apollitical Jess colt ran third in the July 21, $1-million Rainbow Futurity (G1) and qualified to the 440-yard, $3-million All American Futurity (G1). The colt is trained by Jimmy Padgett for the DF Mischievious Jess Partners.

DF Mischievious Jess drew post 10 and will be ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo in the ninth heat.
