Best Of Best Get Together In Los Alamitos Championship On Sunday

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 11, 2019—Ed Allred’s He Looks Hot will look to become the seventh horse to win the Grade 1 Robert Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship more than once when he faces an outstanding field in the 440-yard feature on Sunday at Los Alamitos.

The winner of this $125,000 race will earn a provisional berth to the Grade 1, $600,000 Champion of Champions to be held here on December 14.

A winner of this race at 7-1 odds last year, the millionaire He Looks Hot is putting together another strong campaign in 2019. The son of Walk Thru Fire won the Spencer Childers California Breeders Championship Handicap on July 27 and most recently ran third in the Grade 1 Vessels Maturity. To be ridden by Vinnie Bednar for trainer Scott Willoughby, He Looks Hot will go after his 14th career victory in 36 starts when he leaves the starting gate from post number nine on Sunday evening.

A victory in this event would add He Looks Hot to a great list of Quarter Horse that includes Go Josie Go, Refrigerator, Heza Ramblin Man, Catchmeinyourdreams, Freaky and Heza Dasha Fire as the only multiple winners of the Los Alamitos Invitational Championship. The 10-horse field will feature a total of six Grade 1 stakes winners. In addition to He Looks Hot, the other Grade 1 winners in this race are BH Lisas Boy, Jesstacartel, Katies Easy Moves, Hotstepper, and Tarzanito. Bill Hoburg's BH Lisas Boy is probably the horse of the moment right now.

The 7-year-old gelding by Mighty Invictus has been impressive in his last two outings, winning the 440-yard Bank of America California Challenge Championship on August 10 before returning with a half-length victory in the 400-yard Go Man Go Handicap on September 1. A victory in this race would give BH Lisas Boy his 11th career stakes win at Los Alamitos. Oscar Andrade Jr. will ride the Hoburg-trained and bred superstar.

Caballo Rapido LLC and Five Livestock Company LLC's  Katies Easy Moves has been right there with He Looks Hot and BH Lisas Boy in terms of consistency this year. The Maknmoves gelding won the Grade 1 Vessels Maturity on July 7, which earned him a berth to the Champion of Champions, and was second in the Go Man Go.

He also finished third in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Championship earlier this year. The Monty Arrossa-trained 6-year-old has hit the board in his last eight starts going back to last November. Eduardo Nicasio will ride from post seven.

The field will be completed by Eagles Fly Higher, Yanque, Bost Time Machine and Fenian Faith.
