Three Allowance Races Part Of Sunday’s Slate At Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—AUGUST 17, 2019—EG High Desert Farms’ El Angel Corona will make his first start since winning the Freshman Stakes on California Breeders Champions Night when he takes on Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity finalist Diamond Rock and the stakes placed Budderlicous in the second of three allowance races to be featured on Sunday at Los Alamitos.

El Angel Corona has shown his talent all season long at Los Alamitos. The Corona Czech colt has hit the board in all five outings – including a dominant 1-¼ length maiden win on May 24. Luis Sandoval Reyes, who piloted the son of multiple stakes sire Corona Czech to his stakes win on Champions Night, gets the return call aboard the California homebred. Jesus Nunez trains.

The talented Budderlicous began his career with back-to-back victories, winning his Ed Burke Million Futurity trial by a nose in the process. The Utah-bred bred Corona Cartel gelding missed qualifying to the million-dollar final, but ran a nice third against Nomadic and Favorite Mongoose in the $30,000 Ed Burke Memorial Juvenile Stakes. This $11,525 allowance event is scheduled as the sixth race on the eight-race card.

The first of the allowances is slated as race number five and will feature 2-year-0lds racing for a $11,825 purse. The field will include Kindergarten finalist Corona Lake and Valencia JQM, who scored a come-from-behind victory in his racing debut on July 21. Four others will also race.

Sophomore fillies Estelline and No Telling will take on aged mares in the seventh race on Sunday, a $12,000 allowance test at 300 yards. Estelline will be making her 2019 debut, while No Telling exits a troubled outing in the $195,000 Governor’s Cup Derby. The Walk Thru Fire filly ran in the La Primera Del Año Derby earlier this year.

This field will also feature stakes winners Strawfinders Jessee, Just Walk By and Zendaya, plus the lightning quick filly Kiss N Air.
