Trials Dominate Saturday Card at Laurel Brown

SOUTH JORDAN, UT—JUNE 13, 2019—Thirty-three 2-year-olds have been entered in Saturday’s 350-yard Beehive Futurity (R) trials at Laurel Brown Racetrack near Salt Lake City.

Centers Valiant Hero, a two-time winner during the Remington Park spring meet, drew 2 and will be ridden by Armando Alvidrez in the last of five trials. A gelded son of first crop-wire One Valiant Hero owned by Mayra Sanchez, Hernando Perez, and trainer Valentin Arellanes, Centers Valiant Hero was a $17,000 purchase at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale, and he is coming off of a head victory as the 2-1 favorite in a 350-yard, $20,000 non-winners-of-two allowance dash at Remington on May 26.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the June 30, $90,000-est. Beehive Futurity final.

Also on Saturday, 15 juveniles have been entered in three 330-yard South Valley Futurity trials.

Roberto Ortiz’s Fooses Tat, a stakes-placed daughter of champion Foose trained by Lazaro Mendoza, is coming off of a second-place finish, two lengths behind winner Valentina Relentless, in the 330-yard, $77,475 Hadley/Giles Memorial Futurity at Weber Downs on June 1. The filly has earned $15,995 from three starts, all in Utah.

Fooses Tat drew the rail post and will be ridden by Daniel Carrillo in the second heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $15,000-est. South Valley Futurity final on June 30.
