SUNLAND PARK, NM—FEBRUARY 12, 2019—A field of 11 state-bred 3-year-old Quarter Horses, headed by Ryansmanonthemoon and CD Mamas Boy, has been entered in Saturday’s 400-yard, $85,000 New Mexico Horse Breeders’ Association Stakes (RG2) at Sunland Park.

A homebred son of champion First Moonflash owned by Jimmy Negrete and Jimmy Vasquez, Ryansmanonthemoon is coming off of a neck victory in the 400-yard, $211,000 Shue Fly Stakes (RG2) at Sunland Park on January 26. The gelding has earned $142,917 from 11 starts, all in New Mexico.

Ryansmanonthemoon drew post 8 and will be ridden by Mauro Salcedo for trainer Cynthia Gonzalez.

CD Mamas Boy finished second to Ryansmanonthemoon in the Shue Fly. Trained by Jimmy Guerra for owner Daniel A. Ramirez, the First Moonflash gelding has earned $89,214 from six outs, and his resume includes a third-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Jess Fire Chick, in last year’s 400-yard, $410,000 Zia Futurity (RG1) at Ruidoso Downs.

CD Mamas Boy drew post 6 and will be ridden by Jesse Levario.
