ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 17, 2018—Thomas J. Scheckel’s Agent Carter, a stakes-placed daughter of champion Carters Cartel trained by Jason Olmstead, is one of 14 3-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 400-yard Iowa Double Gold Derby (R) trials at Prairie Meadows.
Agent Carter has earned $41,281 from eight starts, and her record includes a second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner A Jordon Reed, in last year’s 350-yard, $168,000 Mystic Lake Northlands Futurity at Canterbury Park. The filly drew post 3 and will be ridden by Julian Serrano in the second of two trials.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the September 1, $85,000-est. Iowa Double Gold Derby final.
Also on Saturday, 23 2-year-olds have been entered in three 350-yard Iowa Double Gold Futurity (R) trials.
Jorge Haddad’s Anasttasia, a homebred filly by The Louisiana Cartel trained by Clint Crawford, drew post 5 and will be ridden by Bonifacio Quiroz in the first heat. Anasttasia is coming off of an eighth-place finish, two lengths behind winner Dak, in the 350-yard, $479,000 Texas QHA Sale Futurity (RG3) at Retama Park near San Antonio.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $200,000-est. Iowa Double Gold Futurity final on September 1.
