IDAHO FALLS, ID—JUNE 7, 2018—A total of 45 2-year-olds has been entered in Friday’s 350-yard Bitterroot Futurity (R) trials at Sandy Downs.
Los Alamitos-based trainer Monty Arrossa has entered eight juveniles in the Bitterroot Futurity trials, including Gary and Jeralyn Messenger’s Fames Prize Stone.
A homebred daughter of First Prize Stone, Fames Prize Stone made her first two starts at Los Alamitos, where her race record included a three-quarter length victory at odds of 27-1 in a 300-yard, $8,500 maiden-special-weight dash on April 15.
Fames Prize Stone drew post 2 and will be ridden by Jonathan Roman in the fourth of five trials.
Arrossa will also send out Bac On Track, a stakes-placed Jesse James Jr filly owned by Denny Whitaker and Brent Farley. Bac On Track is coming off of a second-place finish, a head behind winner Bw De Elegant, in the 330-yard, $28,000 Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity at Pocatello Downs on May 20.
Jonathan Roman will ride Bac On Track from post 6 in the first heat.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the June 22, $70,000-added Bitterroot Futurity final.
Also on Friday, a dozen 3-year-olds have been entered in two 400-yard Bitterroot Derby (R) trials.
Wagonfullofdividends, an undefeated Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt trained by Mark Hanson for owners RTM Stables LLC and Shauna Dunn, drew post 4 and will be ridden by Jesus Canales in the first of two heats. Wagonfullofdividends has earned $65,440 from six starts, all in Idaho, and his three stakes victories include a dominating 3 1/2-length victory in last year’s 350-yard, $104,000 Bitterroot Futurity (R).
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $15,000-added Bitterroot Derby final on June 22.
