More 2-Year-Old Training Races Set Wednesday, Thursday at Remington
Remington Park continues training exercises on Wednesday and Thursday with 16 training races set this week.

More 2-Year-Old Training Races Set Wednesday, Thursday at Remington

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK--FEBRUARY 18, 2018--Remington Park has carded another two days of training races this week (Wednesday and Thursday) in anticipation of opening their 2018 American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season Friday, March 9.

Trials for the 77th running of the Grade 3 Oklahoma Futurity will be contested Saturday, March 10 and the $450,000 final will be run back on Saturday, March 24. The Oklahoma Futurity is the oldest continuously contested futurity in the history of AQHA.

Post time for Wednesday and Thursday's training races is 11:00 a.m. (CST). All races will be contested over 250 yards. Seven 2-year-old races are scheduled Wednesday and six on Thursday. Race 8 on Wednesday and Races 6 and 8 on Thursday are set for 3-year-old Quarter Horses.

Wednesday - February 21, 2018

Among highlights expected Wednesday will be $100,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate The Wicked Corona, who will compete in Race 7.

Jose Barron will saddle the son of leading sire Corona Cartel for owner Hugo Barron-Sierra. The sorrel colt is a half-brother to Grade 1 Longhorn Futurity winner Baja Jazz, by Tres Seis, who is the dam of 2017 AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding Eagle Jazz and Remington Park Futurity(RG2) winner Teller Baja.

The Wicked Cartel will face Tom Scheckel's One Famous Eagle filly Maghelene in that race. Jason Olmstead conditions the $45,000 Ruidoso Select Sale graduate out of Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity runner-up Belle Helene, by Valiant Hero, a half-sister to AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Colt A Revenant. The second dam is Rainbow Derby(G1) winner and multiple grade 1 stakes producer Thewayyouwantmetoo, by Mr Eye Opener.

On Thursday, Race 4 will feature two five-figure 'Summer Sale' graduates.

Trainer Trey Wood will saddle $50,000 TQHA Sale Graduate Jess JJ Watt AW from the one hole for owner Barbara Seber. The son of leading sire Mr Jess Perry is out of the multiple stakes winning and stakes producing Strawfly Special mare Allurist.

JJ Watt AW is a half-brother to Grade 1 Sam Houston Futurity runner-up Specially Alluring. The second dam is the stakes winning Dash For Cash mare Cash This Runner who is also the dam of AQHA Racing Champion Aged Stallion Panther Mountain.

Mike Robbins conditions Reliance Ranches, LLC's Demi More who will start from post 3 in Race 4. The daughter of leading sire Corona Cartel is sister or half-sister to stakes winner and G1-finalist More Than You Know, RG3 winner Illtacmanhattan, stakes-placed and G1 finalist Corona Couture and stakes-placed Queens.

The second dam is the stakes-placed Tiny's Gay mare Tinys Rose Bud who is the dam of stakes winner and multiple stakes sire Strawflyin Buds. She is the granddam of AQHA Racing Champion Filly Tiny First Effort as well as host of other black type foals and producers.
