LOS ALAMITOS, CA—DECEMBER 6, 2017—Stakes winners Tarzanito, Scholarly, and Duck Dash N Go are among the nine horses that will get together in the running of the $25,000 A Ransom Handicap at 350 yards on Friday night at Los Alamitos.

The A Ransom is one of two stakes races in the eight-race program. The card will also feature the $15,000 Way Maker Handicap, which is scheduled as the fourth event on the card. A1A Racing LLC’s Tarzanito figures to be one of the favorites in the A Ransom based on his victory in the Sgt Pepper Feature Handicap on September 17 and his fifth place finish when being part of a super group in the Grade 1, $956,000 Los Alamitos Super Derby on November 12.

To be ridden by Eddie Garcia and trained by Yanet Rodriguez, Tarzanito was second in the Golden State Million Futurity last year. He’s won five of nine career starts and has earned $252,148.

Now owned by Alberto Duenas and trained by Jesus Nunez, Scholarly is a multiple stakes winner and a 16-race veteran with eight wins to her name.

Her most recent stakes win came in the California Breeders Debutante on July 29. As for Nunez, he’s currently the night meet’s leading Thoroughbred trainer, but no stranger to winning Quarter Horse races. He has saddled nearly 500 Quarter Horse winners at Los Alamitos during his career. Vincent Treyes’ Duck Dash N Go, winner of the Rebs Lil Lulu Handicap, in her last star and Governor’s Cup Derby third place finisher One Sweet Runner, and two-time derby finalist Myfavoritestreaker, are among the other big names.

PCQHRA Derby finalist Remembering Florence, Hold Sway, Apollitical Spirit, and Loud Little Kid will also race in the eighth. The Way Maker at 350 yards will include PCQHRA Breeders Futurity finalist Hard Headed Chick and Corona Chick Handicap runner-up Perfect Az Can Be.
