Stone Cold Leader will head trials for the QHRA of Indiana Stallion Service Auction Futurity on Saturday at Indiana Grand & Casino.

SHELBYVILLE, IN—AUGUST 11, 2017—Three sets of trials are on top on Saturday at Indiana Grand, the fourth of seven all-Quarter Horse cards scheduled at the track this season.

Post time for the first of nine races is set for 6:05 p.m. (EDT).

A total of 41 2-year-olds has been entered in five 350-yard QHRA of Indiana Stallion Service Auction Futurity (R) trials. Patrick Richardson’s Stone Cold Leader, a gelded son of Brookstone Bay trained by Erin Thompson, will be ridden by Rolando Pina from the rail post in the fourth heat. Stone Cold Leader has earned $115,880 from four starts this season, and his three wins include a convincing 2 1/4-length victory as the 1-5 favorite in the 300-yard, $184,000 Gordon Mobley Futurity (R) on June 17.

Stone Cold Leader’s seven opponents in the fourth trial include Sr Shambles. A son of Desirio trained by Jeannette Hoover for owner Cynthia Allen, the gelding has won three of his last four outs, including the 300-yard, $109,000 Heartland Futurity on July 29.

Sr Shambles has banked $77,127 from eight outs. The gelding drew post 3 and will be ridden by James Flores.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 26, $100,000-added QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Futurity.

Saturday’s 400-yard QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Derby (R) trials have drawn 26 3-year-olds, topped by Zoomin B Cartel. A stakes-winning homebred son of The Louisiana Cartel trained by Randy Smith for owners Vicki Lundstrum and Gordon Timm, Zoomin B Cartel has banked $131,304 from nine races, and he ended his 2-year-old campaign with a neck victory in the 350-yard, $191,000 Miss Roxie Little Futurity (R).

Zoomin B Cartel drew the rail post and will be ridden by Berkley Packer in the second of three trials.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will face off in the $50,000-added final on August 26.

Carolyn Bruce’s Stinkin Rich, a homebred gray 5-year-old son of One Famous Eagle, will make his season debut in the second of two 400-yard Bob Woodward Memorial Classic Stakes (R) trials.

Stinkin Rich ended his 2016 campaign with a three-race win streak that included a one-length victory in the $91,000 Bob Woodward Memorial Classic on August 27, and a one-length score in the 400-yard, $82,000 Hoosier Park Classic (R) on October 8. The gelding drew post 3 and will be ridden by Rolando Pina for trainer Matt Frazier.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 25, $75,000-added Bob Woodward Memorial Classic final.
