Jr Prissys Blood Wins Third Consecutive Race in $33,000 ARC Pocatello Downs Distaff Challenge

POCATELLO, ID—SEPTEMBER 20, 2020—The $33,000 ARC Pocatello Downs Distaff Challenge wrapped up a day of five Quarter Horse stakes at Pocatello on Sunday afternoon.

In the second regional Challenge qualifier of the day, Jr Prissys Blood ($6.00) and Jesus Valenzuela came home on top as the post-time favorite. The winning pair finished a half-length ahead of Duck Dash N Go.

The final time for the 400-yard stake was :19.560. The winner earned a 109 speed index, and the second and third place finishers earned 107 and 102, respectively.

Jr Prissys Blood is trained by Riley Moosman for owner Ron Moosman. She was bred in Nevada by JR Stables, by Apollitical Blood and out of graded stakes placed Prissy B Panther, by Panther Mountain.

Jr Prissys Blood has won seven of her 12 career efforts and has earned $86,021. Sunday’s win was her third consecutive race, each at a different track. She has also won the Corona Chick Handicap at Los Alamitos last winter and the Cowboy State Futurity at Energy Downs last June.

Jr Prissys Blood's next start could be in the $100,000-est. ARC Distaff Challenge Championship(G1) during the Bank of America Challenge Championships to be held October 24th at The Downs at Albuquerque.

The accomplished mare Duck Dash N Go, with Eric Ayala up, finished in second place for trainer Monty Arrossa and owner Lex Fabrizio.

The 6-year-old Coronas Fast Dash mare was bred by Bobby Cox in Oklahoma out of Duck Mea Running, by Tour De Kas.

Duck Dash N Go was second in last year’s Distaff qualifier at Pocatello before returning to Los Alamitos, where she won an aloowance race, the Super Sound Charge Handicap, and competed in the Charger Bar (G1).

She debuted and broke her maiden in 2016 at Pocatello before becoming a multiple stakes winner and graded stakes placed mare with earnings to date of $147,939. She is 16 for 36 lifetime.

Loco Ocho and Never Marin completed the trifecta for trainer Garth Blattner. The 4-year-old filly was bred in Idaho by Les and Darla Barlow, by the Louisiana Cartel and out of multiple stakes winning mare Sign of Pride, by First Wrangler.

Earlier this year, Loco Ocho won the Weber Downs Distaff Challenge and was also third in last year’s Distaff qualifier at Pocatello. She was won eight of her 17 career efforts with earnings of $37,986.

Completing the field were Shesa Dashair, Royallittlewagon, Shes Emotionless, Lil Orange Princess and Missus Badger.
