ALBUQUERQUE, NM—AUGUST 4, 2020—Madewell, a graded stakes winning homebred 6-year-old Jess Jones gelding owned by Ray L. Madewell and Davy Madewell, will make his next start in Saturday’s 870-yard AQHA Albuquerque Distance Challenge (G3) trials at Albuquerque Downs.

Madewell is coming off of a Remington Park spring campaign during which he ran second, two lengths behind winner Higher Flyin Eagle, in the April 26, $40,000 AQHA Oklahoma Distance Challenge (G3). The gelding ended his 5-year-old season with a third-place finish, two lengths behind winner Let There Be Sound, in the Grade 1, $104,000 AQHA Distance Challenge Championship at Albuquerque Downs.

Madewell has won four of 24 starts and has earned $145,849 at the 870-yard distance. The gelding drew post 4 and will be ridden by Alfredo Juarez Jr. for trainer Bernard Baca in the second of two trials.

The eight fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 23, $52,000-est. AQHA Albuquerque Distance Challenge final.
