KENNEWICK, WA—MAY 11, 2019—Jesstafiably, under jockey Kassie Guglielmino, closed with a rush to catch posttime favorite Singles Cruise by a neck in the $37,587 Adequan Sun Downs Derby Saturday afternoon at Sun Downs.

After finishing second to fastest qualifier Arizona Favorite, in the April 27 trials, Jesstafiably bounced off that race to complete the 400 yards in :20.001, equally 102 speed index. It the third win in eight career starts for the Benito Curiel trainee.

Malon L. Cowgill is the owner-breeder of the Washington-bred son of One Sweet Jess from the Strawfly Special mare Fly Thru Time. A finalist in the both the Pot O'Gold Futurity and Firecracker Futurity last season, today's $17,209 winners' purse boosted Jesstafiably's earnings total to $24,615.

The sorrel gelding also earned a starting spot in the $150,000-est. Adequan Derby Challenge Championship(G3) to be contested during the Bank of America Challenge Championships October 26 at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Graded stakes winner Singles Cruise earned $7,517 for her second-place effort. Hector Magallanes trains the daughter of multiple stakes sire Favorite Cartel for Janice and Barry Sather. Steve D. Burns, DVM bred the brown filly in California from the Mr Eye Opener mare Going Single. She has earned $91,884. Jakes Samuels had the riding call.

Connie Chumbley's multiple stakes winning gelding Gc Harrys Game finished a length back in third. Scott Raley trains the Gary Chumbley Estate Oregon-bred son of Carters Cartel from the Game Patriot mare Ez Gamer. Ridden by Robert Burney, the bay picked up $3,759 to bring his earnings total to $32,754.

Loosin My Lover, Arizona Favorite, Summertime Hawk, Alabama Hills and Farmboy Payday completed the field.
