Rob That Wagon Wins Three Straight, Sets Top Mark in John Deere Sandy Juvenile Trials

Rob That Wagon Wins Three Straight, Sets Top Mark in John Deere Sandy Juvenile Trials

IDAHO FALLS, ID—JULY 6, 2018—Coming off win in the $92,602 Bitterroot Futurity on June 22nd, Rob That Wagon put in another solid effort to post the top qualifying mark from three trials contested Friday for the John Deere Sandy Juvenile Challenge at Sandy Downs.

Ridden by jockey Nikeela Black, Rob That Wagon completed the 350-yard task in :17.326 seconds, earning a 103-speed index into a 2 mph headwind. It was the third consecutive win for the son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon. Also a finalist in the Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity in May, Rob That Wagon has banked $38,732 in five starts.

Trainer Mark Hanson conditions the brown gelding for owners Robin Dunn and RTM Stables LLC. Bob and Jerry Gaston bred Rob That Wagon in Texas from the First Down Dash mare First Tea Rose.

Trainer Monty Arrossa saddled the first of four Juvenile Challenge qualifiers in the first heat when stakes winning Fames Prize Stone defeated Jess Send It, by a nose, to get the second fastest time of :17.459 seconds, a 99-speed index.

An Idaho homebred, racing for Gary and Jeralyn Messenger, Fames Prize Stone finished third in the Bitterroot Futurity in his last start. Cordarelton Benn rode the daughter of First Prize Stone from the Floyd De Great mare Go For Fame. She has won three of five starts and earned $17,475 this season.

Arrossa and the Messengers also team with Bo Jaxon, a son of multiple stakes sire Bodacious Dash, to win the first trial and post the 6th fastest time of :17.654 seconds, a 93-speed index. Benn was also aboard the sorrel gelding from the Feature Mr Jess mare Feature Miss Fame. He has won two of four starts this season.

The ten fastest qualifiers will return to Sandy Downs on July 20 to vie for the winner's share of a $30,000-added purse. The top two finishers will earn an invite to the $125,000 Est. Grade 2 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship to be run November 17 during the Bank of America Challenge Championship Night at Los Alamitos Race Course.
