Fastest Qualifier Jc Wild Rose Gets Third Straight With Adequan Will Rogers Derby Win

CLAREMORE, OK—SEPTEMBER 24, 2017—Jc Wild Rose collected her first stakes win on Sunday when she defeated Eye Eye Captain by three-quarters in the $45,460 Adequan Will Rogers Derby Challenge at Will Rogers Downs. Famousist finished another three-quarters back in third.

Under jockey Mario Delgado, posttime favorite Jc Wild Rose completed the 400 yards in :19.812 seconds, a 94-speed index into a 12-mph crosswind. It was the third consecutive win for the Apollitical Jess filly who entered the finals with the fastest qualifying trial race on September 10th.

Trainer Carlos Rios conditions the Oklahoma homebred for owner/breeder Jose Cervantes. Jc Wild Rose closed her Remington Park meet with an allowance win on May 28th. Out of the graded-placed Stoli mare Oh Cherokee Rose, Jc Wild Rose should make her next start in the $180,000 Guaranteed Adequan Derby Challenge Championship (G3) during the Bank of America Challenge Championships at Prairie Meadows October 14th.

Eye Eye Captain dueled early under jockey Larry Payne and earned $9,072 for her second-place effort. Guillermo Valdivia saddled the Captain Courage homebred for owner/breeder David Clonts. The multiple stakes-placed Oklahoma-bred filly is out of Eye My Alexis by Mr Eye Opener. She picked up $9,072 to increase her bankroll to $45,803.

Jose Gamez trains third-place finisher Famousist for owners Denis and Julie Schoenhofer. The graded-placed son of multiple stakes sire Separatist faltered late under jockey Omar Reyes. Steve D. Burns, DVM bred the bay gelding in California from the First Down Dash mare Ought To Be Famous. Second in the Oklahoma Derby(G3) and third in the Speedhorse Derby earlier this year, he earned $4,536 for the effort to bring his earnings mark to $78,492.

Rarest Ivory, Black Veil, Taurus, Gypsys Last Hero, Country Admiral, Just Mandela Courage and Foot Loose N Mighty completed the field.
