AJAX, ONT—AUGUST 13, 2017—A trio of 3-year-olds trained by Jason Pascoe and owned by Milena Kwiecien finished 1-2-3 in the $23,999(US) Adequan Ajax Derby Challenge Sunday afternoon at Ajax Downs.

Ridden by jockey Josh Scott, Ls Prince caught stablemate Denali Teller Off by a nose at the wire. Posttime favorite Maryland Magic finished one-length back in third.

Ls Prince completed the 400 yards in :19.910 seconds, into a 4-mph headwind, to earn a 102-speed index. It was the fourth victory in eight starts for the Texas-bred son of Louisiana Senator.

Owner Milena Kwiecien purchased the 3-year-old at the 2016 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Quarter Horse Sale in Oklahoma City for $7,000. Today's $11,039(US) Adequan winners' purse boosted Ls Prince's earnings total to $19,879. Paris Wixon bred the bay from the Sixarun mare Princess Sixarun.

Today's victory also earned Ls Prince a starting spot in the $180,000 Guaranteed Adequan Derby Challenge Championship(G3) during the Bank of America Challenge Championships at Prairie Meadows October 14.

Winner of the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity last season, Denali Teller Off earned $4,800(US) for her second-place effort. Pascoe saddled the daughter of Louisiana Senator out of Eye Like Beduino by Mr Eye Opener.

Another graduate from the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale, Kwiecien paid breeder Charles Robinson $4,500 for the filly. Tony Phillips had the riding assignment aboard the earner of $51,313.

Fastest qualifier Maryland Magic showed late speed under jockey Ramiro Castillo but settled for third-place earning $2,400(US). Another starter from the barn of Jason Pascoe owned by Kwiecien, Maryland Magic is a son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon from the All Mitey Dash mare Purley Un Social. Stephen Harris bred the black colt in Maryland.

Pascoe saddled five winners on Sunday's card at Ajax Downs. The 8-5-9 Triactor, of Ls Prince, Denali Teller Off and Maryland Magic, returned $98.20.

Hickerson, Mrs First Lady, Coronas Chrome, Kona Corona, Jewel Of An Episode and Peves Freddy B completed the field.
