Maiden Challenge Trials Contested at Pocatello and Lethbridge

MAY 14, 2017—Trials for the Maiden Challenge races were contested on Sunday at Rocky Mountain Turf Club in Lethbridge and Pocatello Downs in Pocatello, Idaho.

Bank of America Rocky Mountain Turf Club Maiden Challenge Trials

Dashing By All, a 3-year-old colt by multiple stakes sire Bodacious Dash, got his first career win on Sunday when he posted an impressive 2 ½ length victory in the second of two trials Sunday afternoon at Lethbridge.

Ridden by jockey Martin Oritz Dashing By All completed the 350 yards in :18.048 seconds, a 91 speed index into a 40 mph crosswind, to earn the top qualifying time.

Trainer Tom Kenway saddled the sorrel colt for owner Thomas Pick. Second in last year's Evergreen Park Juvenile Challenge, Dashing By All is out of the Jody O Toole mare All Lena. Ernesto Guerra, Jr. is the breeder.

BetAmerica Maiden Challenge Trials at Pocatello

Jess A Lil Fishy was an easy 1 ¼ length winner under jockey Never Marin on Sunday to post the top qualifying time in the Bank of America Maiden Challenge trials at Pocatello Downs.

Owned by Joe Ward, the Ontario-bred daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess completed the 350 yards in :17.513 seconds to earn a 106-speed index with a 5 mph tailwind.

Fredy Olmos conditions the 3-year-old filly out of Lil Fish by Fishers Dash. Last season was finished fourth in the Roche Equine Futurity at the Jerome Fair.
