CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 4, 2016—Terry McLean’s First Rate Return, the fastest qualifier, is one of 10 2-year-olds entered back in Sunday’s 350-yard, $32,500-added John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge Stakes at Will Rogers Downs.

Trained by Gerry McLean, First Rate Of Return has earned $46,897 from four starts this season, and the Oklahoma-bred son of High Rate Of Return was a finalist in the June 4, 350-yard Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park. The gelding drew the rail post and will be ridden by James Flores.

The winner of this race will earn a starting berth in the October 29, $150,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship at Los Alamitos. The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey assignments--

Adequan Will Rogers Derby Challenge

Country Mans Jazz, a homebred son of Bono Jazz racing for Sarah Huskey and the fastest qualifier, drew post 7 for Sunday’s 400-yard, $32,500-added Adequan Will Rogers Derby Challenge Stakes for 3-year-olds.

Country Mans Jazz has won both of his outs at Will Rogers Downs this season, including the first of two trials on September 25. The gelding is trained by R.L. “Rick” Robinson and will be ridden by Agustin Silva on Sunday.

The winner of this race will earn a berth in the 400-yard, $200,000 Adequan Derby Challenge Championship (G2) at Los Alamitos on October 29. The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey assignments--

AQHA Will Rogers Distance Challenge

Admiral Zoomwalt, a 4-year-old Shazoom gelding trained by Gerry McLean for Terry McLean of Claremore, Oklahoma, will make his first start in more than two months in Sunday’s 870-yard, $30,000-added AQHA Will Rogers Distance Challenge Stakes.

Admiral Zoomwalt has won both of his outs at the 870 distance, including the July 29, $18,000 Walter Merrick Memorial Stakes (R) for Oklahoma-breds at Fair Meadows at Tulsa. The gelding drew post 2 and will be ridden by James Flores.

Other contenders include Louis Howard’s Jessa Little Rusty, a graded stakes winning 6-year-old son of champion Mr Jess Perry trained by John Stinebaugh. The gelding has banked $40,410 from four races this season, and his resume includes a victory in the 870-yard, $50,000 Remington Distance Championship (G3) at Remington Park on June 4.

Jessa Little Rusty drew post 7 and will be ridden by Omar Reyes.
