Cc Tres Prevails In State Fair Bonus Challenge

GREAT FALLS, MT—JULY 30, 2016—Cc Tres defeated Miss Country Chicks by a neck in the $9,600 State Fair Bonus Challenge (not black type), presented by Markel, Saturday afternoon at State Fair Race meeting in Montana. Sparklin Cartel finished a nose back in the blanket finish for third.

Ridden by jockey Juan Ramirez, Cc Tres completed the 300 yards in :15.352 seconds into a 3 mph crosswind to earn a 107-speed index. The $5,280 winner's purse boosted the Texas-bred daughter of leading sire Tres Seis' earnings to $53,787.

David Greene trains the 6-year-old mare for owner Ralph Young. Bred by Evans and Evans and Burnett Ranches, Cc Tres is from the Chicks Beduino mare Shaded In Gray. She has compiled a (29) 7-8-2 record.

Runner-up Miss Country Chicks earned $1,920 for owner/trainer Jess Matt. Efren Prado rode the 7-year-old Country Chicks Man mare out of Legacys Echo, by Cash Legacy. Larry Collins is the breeder.

Sparklin Cartel, a 3-year-old filly by second crop sire The Louisiana Cartel, races for owners Les and Darla Barlow and is trained by Garth Blattner. Les Barlow bred the brown filly in Idaho with Gary Messenger. Out of the First Wrangler mare Sign Of Pride, Sparklin Cartel picked up $960 for her effort.

Fierce Dymand, Wanna Be Fierce, Sis Tar, Absolut Pride and Dash Poruno completed the field.
