Multiple Stakes Winner The Fiscal Cliff Heads Adequan Ruidoso Downs Derby Challenge Saturday

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JUNE 26, 2016—Thomas Lepic’s homebred The Fiscal Cliff will head a full field in the Adequan Ruidoso Downs Derby Challenge Saturday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

The Fiscal Cliff has won seven of 10 starts and raced to the fastest-qualifying time of :19.960 for 400 yards. There were two trials held on June 17.

The Fiscal Cliff opened up one-half length on his rivals and cruised through the finish line maintaining that advantage.

The Willis-trained the son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon won six-consecutive races last year. His stakes wins during that streak included the $201,000 Jim Bader Futurity, the $181,000 Iowa Double Gold Futurity and the $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile.

The Fiscal Cliff starts from the 10th post position with Gomez up.

Owned by Robert Odom III, Randall Dees and Scott Bryant, They Seis Im Quick won the other trial with the second-fastest time of :19.979. He was sent off as the 5-2 favorite and finished well to win by one-half length.

The Mike Joiner-trained Tres Seis gelding has been on the board in five of seven starts with a pair of wins.

Cody Jensen has the mount with the inside post position.
