Q-RACING JOURNAL—DECEMBER 29, 2015—The 2016 Bank of America Challenge Championships will be held at Los Alamitos Race Course in Los Alamitos, California, on October 29.
This is the 11th time the Orange County racetrack has held the prestigious event. The Bank of America Challenge Championships is the year-end culmination of the Challenge program. Regional races held around the world give horses qualifying berths to the Challenge Championships, which offers more than $1 million in purse and prizes on a single night.
“We are excited to bring one of AQHA’s premier events back to Los Alamitos,” said Chief Racing Officer Trey Buck. “We are working on plans to make this a must-attend event for all racing fans!”
Los Alamitos most recently hosted the Challenge Championships in 2013. The track holds the record for most-frequent host during the Challenge’s 23-year history.
It is notable that Thoroughbred racing’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be held at nearby Santa Anita Park the following week, November 4-5.
