CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 8, 2015—Ridden by jockey Larry Payne Apolitical Victory was a game winner, by a neck over Ivory Keys, Sunday afternoon in the $24,738 AQHA Maiden Challenge (not black-type) at Will Rogers Downs. Lil Ferrari finished another neck back in a blanket finish for third.
Sunday's win was the first nine career starts for the Richard Clay owned son of leading second crop sire Apollitical Jess. Durk Peery trains the Bobby D. Cox Texas-bred out of Runaway Dee Dee, by Runaway Winner.
The 3-year-old gray filly has record of (9) 1-2-3 and the $11,626 AQHA Maiden purse doubled her earnings to $23,595. She completed the 350 yards over a fast track in :18.081 seconds.
Ivory Key picked up $4,958 for owner/breeder Joe Williams. Michelle Hurdle conditions the daughter of Ivory James from the First Wrangler mare Dream Diva. Jose Vega had the riding call.
Bred in Oklahoma by Bonanza Racing Stable, Lil Ferrari is owned by Bibiano Agustin Gonzalez and trained by Luz Chavira. Daniel Torres rode the Blues Ferrari colt out of Lil Mac, by Dash To Chivato. He picked up $2,374 for the effort.
Goinbye Waving, Corona Kidd Kat, Coronas Bouquet, Carrera Tempted, Sheez An Angel and Southard Lady completed the field. Three Votes was scratched.
