ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 28, 2015—Multiple graded stakes Ajs High winner started another win-streak Friday night when he rolled to a one-length win over Tac My Chances while posting the top qualifying time for the Adequan Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge.

The 10 fastest Challenge enrolled 3-year-olds, from the two trial races conducted, will return to Prairie Meadows on Saturday, September 12 to vie for the winner's share of a $30,000-added purse going 400 yards. Also at stake will be a starting spot for the winner in the $$200,000 Guaranteed Adequan Derby Challenge Championship[G3] on November 7 during the Bank of America Challenge Championship Night at Lone Star Park.

Coming off the worst start in his nine-race career, tonight Ajs High was in complete command under jockey Stormy Smith as he posted the top mark of :19.609 seconds, a 95 speed index over the sloppy sealed racetrack in the rain.

Prior to his last out the Charley Hunt trainee had compiled a five-race win streak dating back to August 30, 2014 and included wins in the John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship(G2), John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge and the Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Derby.

Owned-and-bred by Michael Teel the son of leading second crop sire Apollitical Jess is out of the Rare Form mare Regally Rare. He has compiled a (9) 6-0-1 record and earned $262,705.

Tac My Chances held on to the second fastest clocking of :19.741 seconds for owner/trainer Rodrigo Covarrubias. Jesus Salazar rode gelded son of Tac It Like a Man from the Salt Lake (TB) mare Salty And Steady (TB).

Bred by JK Running Horses, LLC, Tac My Chances entered the trials off a troubled finish in the Mile High Derby at Arapahoe Park on August 15. Prior to that race he strung together four-straight victories and has earned $58,506.

Bye Bye Birdy was impressive in the final trial when she posted a 1˝ -length winning effort for owner Barbara Barley and trainer Larry Sharp. The Missouri-bred daughter of Hawkinson posted the third fastest time of :17.781 seconds, a 91-speed index, into a 5 mph headwind.

Stormy Smith rode the Barley & Sharp Farm and Steve Burns-bred filly out of Sweet Bye And Bye, by Zevi (TB). Also a stakes finalist, the sorrel miss' record stands at (8) 2-2-2 while earning $25,33.
