Mals Famous Eagle Impresses in John Deere Retama Juvenile Trials

SELMA, TX—JULY 25, 2015—Mals Famous Eagle posted a 2¾-length victory in the third of eight trials Saturday night for the $25,000-added John Deere Retama Juvenile Challenge at Retama Park. The daughter of leading sire One Famous Eagle easily set the top mark of :17.612 seconds, a 97-speed index against a 3 mph headwind.

The 10 fastest qualifier will return to the San Antonio area racetrack on Saturday, August 8 and vie for the winner's share of the purse and a starting spot in the Grade 2 $200,000-Guaranteed John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship on November 7 at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Coming off a 1-¼ length maiden win at Remington Park in May, Mals Famous Eagle has won her last two outs by a combined four lengths. A pretty impressive feat for a two-year-old running at 330 and 350 yards respectively.

Leading trainer Trey Wood conditions the Oklahoma-bred filly for owner/breeder Bill T. Robbins. Out of the First Down Dash mare First A Princess, Mals Famous Eagle has earned $17,513 in four starts.

Also a impressive winner was second fastest qualifier My Runaway Cartel who posed a 2½-length winning effort in the sixth trial under jockey Caspar Garcia. Trained by Jose Garcia, the Carters Cartel gelding completed his 350 yard task in :17.946 seconds while breaking his maiden in just his second start.

Jerry D. Chapman owns the bay out of Fantastic Runway, by Ocean Runaway. Jimmy and Elaine Coffman is the breeder.
