Tiny Flying Corona Uses Big Finish To Win RMTC Markel Bonus Challenge

LETHBRIDGE, ALB—MAY 17, 2015—Making his first start of 2015, Tiny Flying Corona used a big finish to defeat Northforkzoom by three-quarters in the $16,736 Rocky Mountain Turf Club Challenge presented by Markel Sunday afternoon at Lethbridge.

Ridden by jockey Ricardo Moreno, Tiny Flying Corona completed the 300 yards in :15.455 seconds, a 103 speed index with a 15 mph tailwind. The $8,870 winner's purse boosted the 5-year-olds bank to more than $63,000.

Trainer William Leech conditions the Tinys First Corona gelding for owner Charles G. Stojan. Bred in California by Parsons Family Limited Partner, Tiny Flying Corona is out of the Chicks Beduino mare Pj Phoebes Flying. His record stands at (24) 8-3-4.

Northforkzoom finished second for owner K. Glenn Wills. Also trained by Leech, the 5-year-old Mezoomn gelding was ridden by jockey Larris Allen. Northforkzoom is a multiple stakes-placed earner of $52,359 from the El Mistrial mare Rj Bitterroot Babe. T. Copithorne and G. Wills is the breeder.

Invisible Wagon was a half-length back in the show position for owners R. Denard, G. Wills and S. Jeffrey. Laurie Ferguson trains the Pyc Paint Your Wagon filly bred in Texas from the Invisible Injun mare A Troffe For Injun. Ridden by Trevor Simpson, she earned $2,008 for the effort.

Mals First Down, Cr Lil Bit Of Ivory, Keepin Good Karma, Tres Seis Smooches and Top Gun B completed the field.
