Wagon Full Of Gold Steps Up in Grade 2 Bank of America Sunland Park Challenge Championship

SUNLAND PARK, NM—APRIL 11, 2015—Coming off a seventh place effort in an optional claiming race at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino on March 28, Wagon Full Of Gold (12-1) dueled to neck win over Jess Feature Me Quick in the Grade 2 $103,650 Bank of America Sunland Park Challenge Championship(G2) Saturday afternoon at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino.

A double disqualification for interference when leaving the gate against co-post-time favorite Jesscuzican, left runner-up Jess Featureme Quick in 10th place. Rocketair was moved to second place and Kerrys Wave Carver to the show position.

Ridden by jockey Adrian Ramos, Wagon Full Of Gold used a clean break from the outside to his advantage to overtake the early leaders and complete the 440 yards in :21.109 seconds, a 93 speed index. The $47,569 Bank of America winner's purse boosted his career total to $156,304.

Racing for Ezra Elton Lee, Jill Giles and Melvin Neugebauer, Wagon Full Of Gold was a finalist in the 2013 All American Futurity(G1) at Ruidoso Downs and the 2014 Texas Classic Derby(G1) at Lone Star Park. Conditioned by Wes Giles, the Ezra Lee and Toby Dahl Oklahoma-bred has a compiled record of (12) 5-1-1. The 4-year-old son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon is out of the Bully Bullion mare Cheyennes Bullion.

The win also garnered Wagon Full A Gold a starting spot in the Grade 1 $350,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship at Lone Star Park in the fall.

Rocketair is a graded stakes winning son of Jumpn from the First Down Dash mare Rivanne. Clinton Crawford trains the 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred for owners Preston and Karen Cloud. Rocketair boosted his earnings to $297,175 after depositing $20,628 into his bank account for today's effort. Ivan Carnero had the riding call.

Jesus Soto saddled 5-year-old Kerrys Wave Carver for owner Julio Islas. Narcisco Flores bred the Wave Carver mare in Texas from the Mr Jess Perry mare Kerrys Lil Jess. The multiple graded stakes-placed mare earned $10,342 for her effort and brought her earnings mark to nearly $90,000. Hector Aldrete was riding.

Completing the official order of finish were Spitting Snow, Big Sky Lad, Jesscuzican, Coyote James, Tecate N Lyme, Trip To The Jungle, Jess Feature Me Quick, Mines Bigger and CC Will Run For U.
