Wyoming Downs Opens June 4 With Longest Season And Highest Purses

EVANSTON, WY–MAY 9, 2022–With purses at an historic high of $1.35 million dollars, Wyoming Downs, the only private racetrack in Wyoming, will host its longest ever 20-day live racing season every Saturday and Sunday beginning Saturday, June 4 through August 7.

Horsemen from approximately six states will compete for the $1,350,000 winnings, (one million three hundred thousand dollars) the highest ever purse in the track’s history.

Owner Eric Nelson says, “It’ll be our best season ever. Over these past years we’ve increased both the purse size and our season length. We’ve also eliminated the need for lines by adding a ticket buying option online and by offering our FastBet Mobile phone app option for betting. The experience keeps getting better for both our horsemen and our fans.”

For patron convenience tickets can be purchased online by going to Wydowns.com/tickets.

Gates open at 11:30 AM with the first post at 1:05 PM.  General admission is $10.00 with children under 12 free when accompanied by an adult and in the general admission stands.  Clockers corner seats are $40.00 for a table of two or $80.00 for a table of four. Each race day features approximately 10 races.

Wyoming Downs will host 20 special events throughout the season. Among the popular events are the Native American Heritage Day, Wyoming Downs Car Show, Kids Stick Horse Races, and Pink Out Day which celebrates cancer survivors with the annual “Raysha’s Race.”

2022 marks the tenth consecutive race season since owner Eric Nelson repurchased Wyoming Downs and began racing in 2013.  With that purchase, a regional resurgence of live racing began, along with all industries related to racing.

After the races, Wyoming Downs invites those over the age of 18 to its off-track betting facility at 1925 Harrison Drive, Evanston, 92930.

Wyoming Downs is located 15 minutes north of Evanston, Wyoming at 10180 Highway 89 North, 82930, an approximate 75-minute drive from Salt Lake City, Utah.  For tickets and more information, go to Wydowns.com/tickets or call 307-789-7223.
