ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 16, 2019—New Mexico Horse Racing Commission Executive Director Issy Trejo said today that 12 horses had tested positive from out of competition testing (OOCT) on samples taken after recent trials to four stakes races at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Eleven of the horses testing positive were qualifiers in the above named races. Horses that have been excluded from those stakes include:

LA FIESTA FUTURITY

• Javier Hustle, fourth fastest qualifier—trained by Robert Sanderson.
• Sammy Baugh, fifth fastest qualifier—trained by Robert Sanderson.

LA FIESTA DERBY

• Flashy Jess, fastest qualifier—trained by Arnoldo Carrillo.
• Big Gray Lets Dance, fourth fastest qualifier—trained by Rudy Valles.

NEW MEXICO STATE FAIR FUTURITY (RG3)

• Champagne Room, third fastest qualifier—trained by James B. Padgett II.
• Daddys Beats, fourth fastest qualifier—trained by Omar Vargas.
• Daddys Faster, tenth fastest qualifier—trained by Arnoldo Carrillo.

NEW MEXICO STATE FAIR DERBY (RG3)

• Wahene Version, fastest qualifier—trained by Arnoldo Carrillo.
• Chicks Baby Suds, second fastest qualifier—trained by Cynthia Gonzalez.
• Jade, third fastest qualifier—trained by Jesus Carrette.
• Hs Paul Walker, sixth fastest qualifier—trained by Javier Roman, Jr.

Robert Sanderson-trained Princess Katelyn, who ran third in her New Mexico State Fair Futurity trial, but did not qualify, also got a positive test from the OOCT testing.

According to Trejo , Carillo and Sanderson each had three positives while Carrette, Gonzalez, Padgett, Roman, Valles and Vargas each received one.
