AJAX, ONT—JULY 14, 2019—Wasn't that a party? AJAX DOWNS RACETRACK put on a big show on July 14 to officially celebrate its 50th year of Quarter Horse Racing in Ontario.

A packed house enjoyed superb racing, a live concert from the popular Two for the Show duo, plenty of on-track events plus the first annual Wiener Dog Derby which followed the racing card.

Justin Picov, president of Ajax Downs, and Quarter Racing Owners of Ontario Inc.'s Bob Broadstock spoke to, and thanked, the large crowd midway through an exciting nine-race afternoon.

"Five generations of my family, including my son, have watched the Quarter Horses race down the track,' said Picov. "And the same goes for so many other families who have lived and worked in Quarter Horse racing through these fantastic years."

The featured $59,300 Ontario Bred Futurity, showcasing 2-year-olds and the stars of the future, was won in impressive fashion by Eazy Street (see related story.

Pontypool's Jason Pascoe trained four of the winners of the day, three owned by King City's Heste Sport, Inc., and visiting jockey Oscar Andrade, Jr., just 17-years-old, rode all four.

Ajax Downs would like to thank all the special guests who attended Sunday's races who shared their photos and videos on social media of this successful day.

Coming up on July 21, Ajax Downs hosts its annual Craft Beer Day, another popular event on a packed summer calendar.
