SUNLAND PARK, NM—JANUARY 12, 2018—Sunland Park Racetrack Casino and Hotel features the best in Tequila and Margaritas on Saturday afternoon.

The third annual Tequila and Margarita at The Park Festival will feature over 45 tequilas and a variety of flavored margaritas. Guests can purchase 10 sample tickets for $20. There will also be live horse racing and live music.

The indoor event will kick off at 3 p.m. through 9 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free.

Sunday’s live 10-race program is powered by two terrific stakes races – The $65,000 Winsham Lad Handicap at one mile and the $206,852 Shue Fly at 400 yards (see related story).

The Winsham Lad (9th race) showcases an accomplished field with career earnings of well over $2 million. Defending champion Forest Mouse enters the feature with over $984,000 from 26 career wins. Leading rider Ry Eikleberry returns for the mount. Last time out Forest Mouse dead-heated for first place with former Southern California runner Five Palms. Those two return for another exciting battle.

Cowboy Cool, Sky Defence and Pain and Misery also merit serious consideration in the 42nd running of the Winsham Lad.

The 10th race is the 46th running of the Shue Fly Stakes. Top qualifier Regard the Rose won her trial heat by nearly 3 lengths and had speed in reserve. Red hot jockey Manny Gutierrez the gets the call on the fast filly by Chicks Regard. Gutierrez rode Tf Im That Guy to an upset win in the $350,000 Championship at Sunland Park on Dec. 31, 2017.

Daddys Blushing is the richest horse in the race for New Mexico-bred foals of 2015. The son of Big Daddy Cartel won last year’s Mountain Top Futurity at Ruidoso Downs and displays earnings nearing $190,000.
