Lincoln County Medical Center Provides Health Screenings to Ruidoso Downs Race Track Employees

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 10, 2017—Today (Aug. 10) more than 32 physicians, advanced practice clinicians, nurses and staff from various departments within Lincoln County Medical Center provided preventive health screenings to approximately 50 Ruidoso Downs Race Track barn area workers.

LCMC staff checked BMI, cholesterol and blood pressure and provided diabetic foot screenings and nutritional education. It was all part of the track’s annual “Pink Day,” which aims to spread awareness about breast cancer in the community while providing primary health screenings and education to barn area employees.

"This is just one of the many ways we try and give back to the community that we serve," said Todd Oberheu, Administrator, Lincoln County Medical Center. "By providing preventive health screenings, we hope to help individuals better manage their health and avoid negative health outcomes in the future."

"Meeting both the physical and spiritual needs of the people around the race track is the focus of the Ruidoso Downs Chapel ministry," said Darrell Winter, Chaplain, Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Chapel. "The health screening helps improve the lives of our industry workers. They are the backbone of every horseracing track. We are grateful to the staff at Lincoln County Medical Center for providing preventive health screenings to our employees."
