OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JUNE 19, 2017—A rally for victory in the Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Invitational Championship proved to be enough to give Zoomin Effortlessly the Horse of the Meeting title for the recently completed 2017 Remington Park American Quarter Horse Season.

Owned by Telesforo Perrett of Houston and trained by Edelmiro Carrizales, Zoomin Effortlessly was ridden by Santos Carrizales. A 6-year-old Texas-bred gelding by Zoomin For Bux from the Royal Quick Dash mare Royal Quick Affair, Zoomin Effortlessly won his 16th career start when crossing the finish in the Remington Park Championship. He also was voted the Champion Older Male in balloting by media covering the season and by Remington Park racing personnel and handicappers.

Champion 2-year-old – Nymeria
Nymeria won the Grade 1, $1,154,700 Heritage Place Futurity as part of the June 3 “Mega-Card” night of eight stakes races that helped close the season. In capturing the richest race of the season, she was voted the top 2-year-old of the session.

Owned by Alfredo Garza of Anthony, N.M. and trained by Josue Ponce, Nymeria was ridden by Jose Alvarez. A 2-year-old Texas-bred filly by Bigtime Favorite from the Ivory James mare Havanah Goodtime, Nymeria finished second in her only other start of the season, in her qualifying trial for the Heritage Place Futurity.

Champion 3-year-old – Apollitical Scout
A three-race winning streak during the season, that included a score in the $305,000 Remington Park Derby for Oklahoma-breds, helped gain Apollitical Scout the edge in voting for Champion 3-year-old.

Owned by Karen and Preston Cloud of Sallisaw, Okla. and trained by Clint Crawford, Apollitical Scout is a 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly by Apollitical Jess from the Corona Cartel mare Swingin Cartel. Omar Reyes was the regular jockey for Apollitical Scout.

Champion Older Female – Time For Wine
A resounding half-length score in the Grade 2, $100,000 Junos Request Stakes on June 3 helped cap a perfect Remington Park season for Time For Wine, as well as Champion Older Female honors.

Owned by Pete Scarmardo of Caldwell, Texas and trained by John Weghorst, Time For Wine was ridden by James Flores throughout her Remington Park season that included three consecutive wins.

A 5-year-old California-bred mare by Mr Jess Perry from the First Down Dash mare Fine Wines, Time For Wine also won the $53,000 Merial Remington Park Distaff Challenge Stakes on May 14.

Champion Distance Runner – Jess A Hilbily Bone
A game effort to move through a tight spot along the rail in the stretch of the Grade 2, $50,558 Remington Park Distance Championship on June 3, secured a half-length victory in the race for Jess A Hilbily Bone, and the award as the season’s top distance horse.

Owned by Rockin J Running Horses of Gatesville, Texas and trained by Tammy Johnson, Jess A Hilbily Bone was ridden to his season victories by Benito Baca. A 6-year-old Texas-bred gelding by Rock Solid Jess from the Game Patriot mare Imaginiff, Jess A Hilbily Bone also won a starter allowance race around the turn at 870 yards on May 6 by a whopping margin of 5-1/2 lengths.

Champion Oklahoma-bred – Bodacious Eagle
Victories in the Grade 2, $50,000 Eastex Stakes on March 12 and then the Grade 1, $100,000 Leo Stakes on April 1 made Bodacious Eagle an easy vote in the category for Champion Oklahoma-bred.

Owned by Johnny Trotter of Hereford, Texas and trained by Trey Wood, Bodacious Eagle was ridden to his stakes scores by Ricky Ramirez. A 5-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding by One Famous Eagle from the Corona Cartel mare Bodacious Dream, Bodacious Eagle enjoyed a perfect Remington Park stakes season, winning his two attempts.

Champion Paint – Painted Turnpike
Sweeping the top stakes races for older Paints and Appaloosas during the season, Painted Turnpike was voted the Champion Paint.

Wins in the Grade 1, $30,000 Mister Lewie Memorial by two lengths on May 19 and then the Grade 1, $30,000 National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum Stakes by one length on June 2, pushed Painted Turnpike to the top of the ballots.

A past Paint World Champion, Painted Turnpike is owned by Nolan Pevehouse of Webbers Falls, Okla. and is trained by Matt Whitekiller. Cody Smith is his normal jockey.

A 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred colt by PYC Paint Your Wagon (QH) from the SF Royal Quick Flash mare High Class Turnpike, Painted Turnpike has won 10 career races at Remington Park and 16 races overall.

Champion Appaloosa – Cant Be Caught
Elevated to victory in the $21,800 Paul Harber Memorial Stakes in April, from second to first, Cant Be Caught gained victory in his only start of the season and also gained the title for Champion Appaloosa.

Owned by John Diediker of Parsons, Kan. and trained by Guillermo Valdivia, Cant Be Caught ran second to another Appaloosa in the Paul Harber Memorial, Star Power Intent. However, Star Power Intent was disqualified from winning in post-race testing, granting the trophy to Cant Be Caught.

A 5-year-old Appaloosa gelding, bred in Oklahoma by his owner, Cant Be Caught is by With Intent from the Rare Form (QH) mare Unique Form (QH).

Champion Claimer – Rarin
Winning all three of his starts during the season, Rarin was voted the Champion Claimer.

Owned by Jesus Estrada of Albuquerque, N.M. and trained by Dean Carr, Rarin was ridden by Ricky Ramirez. The gelding qualified for the claimer category by winning his lone start for a price-tag, a $30,000-level affair in March. After that triumph, Rarin went on to victory in consecutive starter allowance events to cap his season.

A 5-year-old Oklahoma-bred, Rarin is by Inseperable from the Rare Form mare Rare Kayoh.

Live horse racing is now on hiatus at Remington Park until the 2017 Thoroughbred Season which runs Aug. 25 thru Dec. 17.
