Championship/Golden State Million Futurity Double On October 29-30

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 26, 2016—Los Alamitos Race Course will offer a special wagering Double that will connect the Grade 1, $350,000 Bank of America Championship and the Grade 1, $1,016,250 Golden State Million Futurity, both of which will be held this weekend at the Orange County track.

Named the Los Alamitos Big Money Double, this special wager will get underway with the Bank of America Championship, which is scheduled as the 10th race on Saturday, October 29. The Golden State Million Futurity will be the closing leg of the Big Money Double and will be run on Sunday, October 30.

The Bank of America Championship is the richest of 10 races contested Saturday at Los Alamitos as part of the AQHA Bank of America Racing Challenge. The Bank of America Championship will feature 12 outstanding 3-year-olds and upwards racing as the classic 440-yard distance.

The field will include 2014 World Champion JRC Callas Firsta winner of 17-races in his 30-race career. Among the horse he’ll face in this race will be Bill Hoburg’s BH Lisas Boy, the winner of the California Regional Championship at 440-yards in August.

Wagering on the Los Alamitos Big Money Double must be made prior to the start of the Bank of America Championship, which has an approximate post time of 10:12 p.m. (PST) on Saturday night. First post for the 10-race Racing Challenge card on Saturday is 6 p.m. (PST). The wager will then be completed with the running of the Golden State Million Futurity. The 400-yard race for juveniles will feature a 10-horse field led by Governor’s Cup Futurity winner AJS Anna Smoke, two-time major futurity runner-up Worth Doing, and fastest qualifier and likely Golden State Million morning line favorite Cartel Sixes.

“With a wide-open, 12-horse field in the Bank of America Championship on Saturday and an outstanding 10-horse field racing in the Golden State Million on Sunday, we believe that this special double will be a very attractive and fun wager for our racing fans,” said Orlando Gutierrez, the marketing and publicity director at Los Alamitos Race Course.
