Nominations Due November 1 for 2017 Western States Breeders' Futurity

ROCK SPRINGS, WY—OCTOBER 21, 2016—Nominations for 4th running of the Western State Breeders' Futurity are due Tuesday, November 1st. The $50,000-added futurity for 2-year-olds of 2015 foaled in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washing or Wyoming will be contested at Sweetwater Downs in Rock Springs.

Nominations must be postmarked and mailed no later than November 1st. A payment of $250 for each horse nominated should be made payable to Wyoming Horse Racing, LLC and mailed to PO Box 3210, Evanston, Wyoming 82931.

No deductions from horsemen's payments are withheld for advertising or administrative costs and 100% of all fee paid are returned to horsemen. Distribution for the leading Western States Breeders program are 75% into the Western States Breeders' Futurity final, 10% to the Western States Breeders' Juvenile, 10% to the 2018 Western States Breeders' Derby and 5% to breeder's awards.

Horses must nominate to the 2017 futurity to become eligible for the 2018 derby.

Mahoney N Tacklebery, owned by Ben Peterson and trained by Riley Moosman, won the 2016 $106,875 Western States Breeders' Futurity September 3rd at the Central Wyoming Fair. The son of Favorite Cartel earned $42,750 for the effort.
