Mega-Card Of Stakes Races Wraps Up Remington Park Season On June 4

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 30, 2016—The 2016 Remington Park American Quarter Horse Season comes to a close with the final three nights of racing Thursday thru Saturday, June 2-4. The $2,319,670 “Mega-Card” program leads the final weekend on Saturday night with a special first race of 5pm.

The 12-race program on Saturday night includes eight stakes events with the total purses coming in second to the all-time richest race card ever presented at Remington Park. The 2015-edition of the “Mega-Card” was worth $2,335,670.

The Grade 1, $1,083,420 Heritage Place Futurity headlines the program and is the first million-dollar Quarter Horse race of 2015. A total of six of the eight stakes races on “Mega-Card” Saturday are worth at least $100,000. The lineup of stakes races includes:

  • Race 5: Grade 3, $50,000 Easy Jet Stakes, 2-year-old Oklahoma-breds, 350yds
  • Race 6: $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile, 2-year-olds, 350yds
  • Race 7: Grade 1, $239,400 Speedhorse Graham Paint/Appaloosa Futurity, 2-year-olds, 350yds
  • Race 8: Grade 2, $100,000 Junos Request Stakes, fillies & mares, 3-year-olds and older, 400yds
  • Race 9: Grade 1, $1,083,420 Heritage Place Futurity, 2-year-olds, 350yds
  • Race 10: Grade 2, $369,550, Heritage Place Derby, 3-year-olds, 400yds
  • Race 11: Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Championship, 3-year-olds and older, 440yds
  • Race 12: Grade 2, $50,000 Remington Park Distance Championship, 3-year-olds and older, 870yds

The Speedhorse Graham Futurity sets a new record for the highest purse in the history of the event, the richest race in the world for Paints and Appaloosas.

The Junos Request purse increases to $100,000 this year, after being contested for many years at the $50,000-level.

The first race on Mega-Card Saturday, June 4 is at 5pm Central.

Open daily for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the historic $414,000 Oklahoma Futurity. The 75th running of the oldest futurity in Quarter Horse racing takes place on Saturday, March 26, 2016.
