Great Lakes QHA Honors Its 2015 Champions

Q-RACING JOURNAL—FEBRUARY 4, 2016—The Great Lakes Quarter Horse Association honored its 2015 champions last weekend.

The GLQHA did not name a horse of the year, but Dorothys Doll was the only award winner from 2014 to earn honors the following season, as the Texas-bred daughter of Scrutinizer took the chart book (open division) title for older female both years. A 6-year-old mare trained by Tim Eggleston for owner Amy Piper, Dorothys Doll won two of seven races against claiming company at Hazel Park near Detroit and Indiana Grand.

Piper and Eggleston were also connected to the GLQHA older male, Shake A Corona. A 7-year-old gelded son of Moon Shake, Shake A Corona won six of eight outs at Hazel Park and Indiana Grand.

Other awards went to Feature Dance (3-year-old filly, owned by Darrel Henry and trained by Don Evans) and Request A Sign (3-year-old male, owned by Jesse Norton and trained by Mallory Norton).
