Rainbow Futurity Winner Tres Friends Sidelined For All American Futurity

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 27, 2015— Terry Stennett’s Tres Friends, a 9-1 winner of the Grade 1, $1 million Rainbow Futurity, will not compete in the trials to the Grade 1, $3 million All American Futurity on August 21-22.

“He has some hot shins, so we’ll give him some rest,” said trainer Blane Wood. “We’ll try to get him ready for the Texas Classic Futurity. But, we really want him for the derbies here next summer.”

Tres Friends was fourth when he made his debut in the trials to the Grade 1, $750,000 Ruidoso Futurity and then stepped up and won his Rainbow Futurity trial by one-half length. He was the fastest qualifier on the first of two days of Rainbow Futurity trials.

A $60,000 purchase at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, Tres Friends is by Tres Seis and the first foal out of All American Futurity finalist Lotta Love For Robyn. Wood said after the Rainbow Futurity score that Tres Friends was on top of their list of horses to buy at the sale.
