Q-RACING JOURNAL—MARCH 23, 2015— The Minnesota Quarter Horse Racing Association is sponsoring a youth day at the races on June 20 at Canterbury Park.
The day will allow youth ages 14-18 an opportunity to see American Quarter Horse racing up close. In the morning, youth will get to see morning workouts, visit with trainers, gate crews, jockeys and many other people involved in racing and see the draw in the racing office, then see the races in the afternoon.
At the end of the day, participants will take a test covering the information they learned during the day to compete for a $1,000 college scholarship.
Interested youth must be Minnesota residents. To apply to attend the youth day, candidates must submit a written essay of 500 words or less along with the application.
Entries must be received on or before June 6.
For more information or to ask questions, contact MQHRA youth advisor Doug Steiskal via email at dougsteiskal@q.com or call 763-227-2660.
