La Fiesta Futurity, Derby Set for Sunday at The Downs at Albuquerque
The Downs at Albuquerque will host the 400-yard, $252,161 La Fiesta Futurity and the $142,635 La Fiesta Derby on Sunday's race card.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 14, 2021—RC Relentless Grace and Lethal Avenger are among the 10 2-year-olds entered back in Sunday’s 400-yard, $252,161 La Fiesta Futurity at The Downs at Albuquerque.

A bay daughter of Hes Relentless trained by Romeo Mireles for owner TYKHE Racing LLC, RC Relentless Grace has earned $72,251 from six outs in three states, and her resume includes a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Mr Spud, in the 350-yard, $297,000 Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs on July 20.

RC Relentless Grace drew post 10 and will be ridden by Juan Pulido.

Lethal Avenger races for J & SM Inc., Don Reynolds, and M. Lane Reynolds from the barn of trainer Fred Danley. A $50,000 purchase at last year’s Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, the Volcom gelding has banked $42,660 from six starts -- all in New Mexico -- and he was a finalist in the 400-yard, $1-million Rainbow Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs on July 25.

Lethal Avenger drew post 3 and will be ridden by Noe Garcia Jr.

Also on Sunday, fastest qualifier For The Irony drew post 9 for the 400-yard, $142,635 La Fiesta Derby.

A gelded son of Valiant Hero trained by Albert Valles for owner Super Champion Inc., For The Irony made his local debut with a three-quarter length win in the first of two La Fiesta Derby trials on August 29. For The Irony has won eight of 10 outs -- including four of five at the 400-yard distance -- and he has banked $159,184, and he was a finalist in the 400-yard, $673,000 Ruidoso Derby (G1) on June 12.

For The Irony will be ridden by Sergio Becerra Jr.
