PHOENIX, AZ—JANUARY 4, 2020—A pair of stakes-placed runners, Mae Capone and Kellys First Moon, are among the 32 3-year-olds entered in Tuesday’s 350-yard Turf Paradise Maiden Stakes trials at Turf Paradise Racetrack.
Mae Capone is a bay daughter of champion FDD Dynasty trained by Eloy Navarro for owner Jose Aguilar Mendoza. The filly has earned $10,268 from five starts, and her record includes a second-place finish in the October 24, 350-yard Albuquerque Juvenile Stakes at Albuquerque Downs.
Mae Capone drew post 8 and will be ridden by Hector Aldrete in the last of four trials.
Kellys First Moon races for NJ Farms LLC from the barn of trainer Eric Valenzuela. A brown daughter of champion First Moonflash, the filly has banked $6,300 from four outs, and her resume includes a third-place finish, 1 1/4 lengths behind winner Vine Master, in the 350-yard, $50,000 Mountain Top Juvenile Stakes (R) at Ruidoso Downs on June 13.
Adrian Ramos will ride Kellys First Moon from post 2 in the first heat.
The 10 fastest qualifiers from Tuesday's trials will meet in the January 26, $10,000-added Turf Paradise Maiden Stakes final.
