Champion Trump My Record is among 33 3-year-old hopefuls entered in Saturday's 440-yard Texas Classic Derby (G1) trials at Lone Star Park.

Forty-Four Sophomores Entered in Texas Classic Derby Trials

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 3, 2020—Forty-four 3-year-olds, headed by champion Trump My Record and multiple graded stakes winner Mister Riptide, are entered in Saturday's 440-yard Texas Classic Derby (G1) trials at Lone Star Park.

Last year’s champion 2-year-old gelding, Trump My Record is trained by Jose Luis Sanchez III for owner Gilbert Pacheco III. Trump My Record has earned $114,915 from four starts this season, and his three wins include a one-length victory as the 2-5 favorite in the 400-yard, $201,000 Firecracker Derby G3) at Delta Downs in August.

Trump My Record drew post 2 and will be ridden by Eddie Sanchez in the first trial.

Mister Riptide races for Mark and Annette McCloy from the barn of trainer Blane Wood. A son of the Dash Ta Fame stallion Woodbridge and a $22,000 yearling purchase at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale, the gelding won all three of his outs during the Ruidoso Downs meet, including the 400-yard, $183,000 Zia Derby (RG2) on July 25.

Mister Riptide drew post 2 and will be ridden by Ricky Ramirez in the fifth heat.

Bobby D. Cox’s Ratification, a homebred daughter of world champion Apollitical Jess trained by Juan L. Vazquez, is coming off of a Ruidoso Downs summer campaign during which she won the 440-yard, $316,000 Rainbow Oaks on July 18, and the 440-yard, $421,000 All American Oaks on September 6. The filly has banked $324,308 from six outs this season.

Ratification drew post 4 and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon in the first trial.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $400,000-est. Texas Classic Derby final on November 28.
