Johnny de Capo, Cajun King Head Three Trials For Speedhorse QH Derby Saturday
Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity(RG1) winner Johnny de Capo will be among 24 3-year-olds vying for a starting spot in the $54,000 Speedhorse QH Derby at Fair Meadows.

Johnny de Capo, Cajun King Head Three Trials For Speedhorse QH Derby Saturday

TULSA, OK—JULY 9, 2020—Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity(RG1) winner Johnny de Capo and Oklahoma Mystery Futurity(RG3) winner Cajun King will head three trials Saturday for the Speedhorse QH Derby at Fair Meadows.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Fair Meadows on Saturday, July 25th to vie for the winner's share of a $54,000 purse.

Leading trainer Eddie D. Willis has named jockey Justine Klaiber to ride Cajun King in the first of three trials (Race 8). The Oklahoma homebred races for owner-breeder Abel Flores will be making his first start since posting a neck win in the $179,136 OHA Mystery Futurity(RG3) at Will Rogers Downs November 9th.

Also a finalist in the Heritage Place Juvenile at Remington Park the gelded son of champion sire The Louisiana Cartel has compiled a (8) 2-3-0 record last season and earned $106,251. Installed as the 1-1 morning-line favorite in Saturday's eighth race, Cajun King is out of the Scrutinizer mare Easydoesitcindy. He will race from post 2.

Dunn Ranch's Relentless Episode (2-1) will face Cajun King in the opening trial. The daughter of leading second-crop sire was third in the aforementioned Mystery Futurity(RG3) and has won one of three starts this season.

Leading trainer Monty Arrossa condition's the Oklahoma-bred out of A Corona Episode by Corona Cartel. Champion jockey James Flores will ride Relentless Episode from post 5. Terry and Irene Stennett bred the $49,944 earner.

Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Derby(RG2) finalist Really First Down (7-2) will head the second trial (Race 9). Also owned by Dunn Ranch and trained by Arrossa, the son of leading sire First Down Dash will start from 3 post under jockey James Flores.

The Oklahoma homebred for Dunn is from the Corona Carrel mare Really A Corona has earned $11,312.

Trainer Dee Keener will send out Nsm Ice Angel (3-1) in the second trial (Race 9) for owner's John Duke Ranch and Jeff Bourquin. Rolando Raudales will ride the FDD Dynasty filly, out of Corona With Ice by Corona Cartel, from post 5. A solid allowance contender, the sorrel filly has won one of eight career starts and banked $12,384. Nancy McCoy is the breeder.

Armando Ramirez II will be aboard RG1-winnner Johnny de Capo (3-1) from the outside post 8 in the final trial (Race 10) for trainer Raul Rodriguez. Juan Jose Contreras owns the Capo de Capi gelding from the Make It Anywhere mare Dash For Ted. The Oklahoma homebred has won three of nine starts including the 2019 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity(RG1) and earned $354,808.

Jockey James Flores will ride Nice Socks Ms Hocks (5-2) in the final trial from the inside rail for trainer Dee Keener and owner John Duke Ranch. Bred in Texas by Conda Maze and Bob McClure, from the One Famous Eagle mare Lil Famous Dash, Nice Socks Ms Hocks is a two time winner in eight starts and has earned $20,152.

First post on Saturday is set for 6 p.m. (CDT). The first Speedhorse Derby trial (Race 9) will go off around 9:20 p.m.

In addition to the Speedhorse QH Derby trials on Saturday, Fair Meadows will also host five trials for the Speedhorse Paint And Appaloosa Futurity (G1), races 3 thru 7.
