INDIANAPOLIS, IN—AUGUST 26, 2019—With an earlier date, the Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana (QHRAI) looks to capitalize on the largest catalogue for their Speed Sale in its brief nine year history. The QHRAI Speed Sale looks to sell 46 racing-bred American Quarter Horses on September 15, 2019, at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The location is less than 15 minutes from Indiana Grand Racing & Casino, and allows for a weekend devoted to American Quarter Horse racing, after the fifth night of racing dedicated to only Quarter Horses on September 14.

"We are very excited about the upcoming Speed Sale, as we are offering up some of the best quality horses we have ever had up for sale," says Dianne Bennett, Executive Director of QHRAI.

The sale features 36 yearlings, three 2 year olds, two yearlings and two older broodmares, both pregnant and eligible to have Indiana-bred foals (with a breed-back to a registered Indiana stallion in 2020). Twenty Indiana-sired and bred horses are listed, along with 18 registered Indiana-bred yearlings.

"I can't wait to see these yearlings racing on the track in the next year or two," says Jessica Barnes, Director of Racing and Breed Development for the Indiana Horse Racing Commission. "Our Quarter Horse program is getting bigger each year, and we look forward to new growth in our incentives and purses in the years to come with changes at our racetracks."

Top consigner Brian Gunder brings seven yearlings to the sale, including the Jess Zoomin gelding Zoomin Apollo, out of Apollo Bay Day. Miller Ranch also consigned seven yearlings, all Indiana-sired by Escondido Beach and Brimmstone.

Top Indiana sire Escondido Beach is represented by eight yearlings and Jess Zoomin has seven progeny in the sale. The Corona Cartel stallion ranked #64 in the Top 100 Stallions for 2018, according to Track Magazine, at the end of 2018 his progeny has earned a total of $2,257,976 in earnings. The year's hottest young stallion, Kiss My Hocks, is represented by Indiana-bred colts Heza Fast Kisser (out of First Smart Stride, hip 36) and Kiss My Hocks Goodby (out of Adios Tiny, hip 45).

Past QHRAI Speed Sale graduates include WH Kenny G (lifetime earnings as of 8/22/19, $300,860), Stone Cold Leader ($490,333) and WH Design By Dash ($436.428).
