SAN ANTONIO, TX—JULY 26, 2019—TQHA kicked off their annual yearling sale today (Friday) with across-the-broad increases in gross, average and median.

Today's opening session saw 96 state-bred yearlings sale for $1,327,000, a 40% increase compared to 88 yearlings that brought $944,900 last year. This year's opening day average is up 29% to $13,823 compared against $10,738. Friday's median price hit $7,500.

Mark and Annette McCloy paid $110,000 for Hip #77 Winglets, a yearling filly by leading sire One Famous Eagle out of the Texas Classic Futurity(G1) runner-up First Fancy Racy by Carters Cartel. Bobby D. Cox was the consignor.

The second high-seller on Friday, #12, Our Secret Sister was consigned by 6666 Ranch, Agent for Burnett Ranches, LLC. Jackie Sessions signed the ticket at $90,000 for the Hez Our Secret filly out of Sister Jess by Mr Jess Perry. Our Secret Sister is a sister to 2019 West Texas Futurity(G2) winner Perrys Secret.

Hip 99, Tempting Knockout, a daughter by leading sire Tempting Dash, sold for $52,000 to P & J Racing Ltd. Granada Farms, Agent consigned the filly out of Passem Up Perry by Mr Jess Perry.

Mark and Annette McCloy led all day-one buyers with the one yearling for $110,000. Alex Castaneda had eight yearlings for $108,800 and Jackie Session had the one for $90,000.

Bobby D. Cox was the leading consignor on day-one with six head grossing $270,500. Granada Farms, Agent sold six for $139,700 and 6666 Ranch, Agent for Burnett Ranches, LLC/J. Sessions sold one for $90,000.

One Famous Eagle was the leading yearling sire (by average with two or more sold) with two yearlings averaging $66,500. Tempting Dash had four for average $31,125 and Heza Our Secret saw six yearling average $25,917.

EC Jet One was the leading first-year sale sire on day-one with four yearlings averaging $9,750 and Lethal Corona had five for an $8,760 average.

The sale also offered its first-ever session of Horses-In-Training today, where five head sold for $28,500, an average of $5,700. A second session of Horses-In-Training will join the second session for yearlings on Saturday morning, kicking off at 10:30 a.m.
