OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 10, 2019—Jess Proved Youwrong, a daughter of world champion Apollitical Jess owned by Jose E. Guzman and Rito Sosa, is one of 56 3-year-olds entered in Sunday’s 400-yard Heritage Place Derby (G2) trials at Remington Park.

Jess Proved Youwrong has won both of her starts during the current Remington meet, including the 350-yard, $255,750 Oklahoma Derby (G3) on March 23. The filly drew post 8 and will be ridden by James Flores for trainer R.L. “Rick” Robinson in the second of seven trials.

Jess Proved Youwrong’s seven opponents in the second heat include Eagles Fly Higher, a One Famous Eagle colt who will be making his first start since November 10, when he ran second, a head behind winner Flying Cowboy 123, in the 440-yard, $1.015-million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park. Trained by Trey Ellis for owners Vernon Harman and Robert T. Moudy III, Eagles Fly Higher has won four of seven starts, and his three wins in four outs at Remington include last year’s 330-yard, $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile Stakes (R) for Oklahoma-breds.

Eagles Fly Higher drew post 5 and will be ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo.

Other prominent sophomores entered in Sunday’s trials include Apollitical Pence, a gelded son of Apollitical Jess trained by Trey Wood for owner Dunn Ranch. Apollitical Pence is coming off of a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Powerful Favorite, in the 400-yard, $211,000 El Primero del Ano Derby (G3) for colts and geldings at Los Alamitos, and he was a finalist in last year’s Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two-Million and Golden State futurities.

Apollitical Pence drew post 5 and will be ridden by Ricky Ramirez in the third trial.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $100,000-added Heritage Place Derby final on June 1.
