Champion Country Boy 123 Returns On Mother's Day

AJAX, ONT—MAY 9, 2019—Country Boy 123, the Ajax Downs' Horse of the Year for the past three consecutive seasons, makes his much anticipated 6-year-old debut on Sunday during the track's special Mother's Day celebration.

This is the second racing day of the 50th anniversary of racing at Ajax Downs. The track has plenty of affordable 50th anniversary merchandise on sale at the trackside kiosk.

The first 100 'Moms' will receive a $2 betting voucher and a flower before enjoying an action-packed day of Quarter Horse racing including the featured sixth race, a $20,000 open allowance dash at 300 yards.

Country Boy 123 went undefeated in all seven of his races in 2018 and set two track records in another spectacular season of racing. Owned and trained by Ruth Barbour, the son of County Chicks Man will be ridden as usual by Cory Spataro of Innisfil.

The super field includes the once-beaten Had to Be Ivory, named 2018 Champion Canadian-bred by the American Quarter Horse Association and a new face in Bringonthewave, an Alberta Champion owned by Dale Zukowski.

The Mother's Day card has a first race post time of 12:55 p.m. Follow Ajax Downs on Twitter (@AjaxDowns), Facebook and Instagram..
