All American Futurity Winner Apocalyptical Jess Races In Trials For $319,975 Remington Park Derby

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 7, 2019—Six trials are scheduled today (Sunday) for the Restricted Grade 3, $319,975 Remington Park Derby and a superstar – 2018 All American Futurity winner Apocalyptical Jess – will be trying to qualify.

He is in the second trial (fourth race on the card, approximate post 2:48 p.m.) and has been made the 2-1 morning-line favorite for his heat. This 3-year-old gelded son of Apollitical Jess, out of the Holland Ease mare Cassandra Crest, is owned by Bill Robbins of San Jose, Calif., trained by Trey Wood and will be ridden by Ricky Ramirez.

Apocalyptical Jess went off at 5-2 odds in the $3 million All American Futurity and won by three-quarters of a length on Sept. 3 last year at Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico. He has won three-of-six starts lifetime with $1,540,140 in his bankroll.

Since racing to victory in the ultimate event for Quarter Horse racing, he has hit the track twice, winning his trial in the Texas Classic Futurity in the mud on Oct. 10 at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was the 1-2 odds-on favorite in that trial, but somehow came back for the final at 4-1 odds. Even more shocking was his loss in the final on Nov. 10 when he finished sixth after breaking 10th in a field of 10 horses.

Racing resumes Sunday with race one set for 1:30 p.m. on a 10-race card.
