OKLAHOMA CITY—APRIL 5, 2019—Apocalyptical Jess and Lynnder 16, a pair of graded stakes winners during their 2-year-old seasons, are among the 43 Oklahoma-bred sophomores entered in Sunday’s 400-yard Remington Park Derby (RG3) trials at Remington Park.
Last year’s AQHA champion 2-year-old gelding, Apocalyptical Jess is a gelded son of Apollitical Jess trained by Trey Wood for owner Bill T. Robbins. Apocalyptical Jess will be making his 3-year-old debut off of a juvenile campaign during which he 1,540,140 from six races and scored a three-quarter length victory in American Quarter Horse racing’s richest and most prestigious race, the 440-yard, $3-million All American Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs.
Apocalyptical Jess drew post 2 and will be ridden by Ricky Ramirez in the second of six trials.
Lynnder 16 was also a finalist in last year’s All American Futurity. A sorrel daughter of Apollitical Jess trained by Jason Olmstead for owners Tom Maher and Dick Robin, the filly banked $461,146 from six starts last season, and her three wins included a head victory in the 330-yard, $864,000 Remington Park Futurity (RG2).
Lynnder 16 drew post 2 and will be ridden by Cristian Esqueda in the first heat.
The top 10 qualifiers will meet in the $130,000-added Remington Park Derby final on April 20.
